KEYNOTE | Storyboarding: Storytelling Through Images – Marco Valerio Gallo
Storyboard artist and illustrator, Marco Valerio Gallo has been working in the world of cinema and advertising since 2006, giving visual form to stories, sequences, and narratives through the language of storyboarding.
Throughout his career he has collaborated with important Italian and international film productions and with directors such as Carlo Verdone, Andrei Konchalovsky, Gabriele Mainetti, Gabriele Salvatores, Paolo Genovese, Paolo Sorrentino, Ricky Tognazzi, Sergio Castellitto, Ferzan Özpetek and Pupi Avati. In the advertising field, he has created storyboards for brands such as Honda, Toyota, Missoni, Campari, Ferrero, De Cecco, Mulino Bianco, Birra Moretti and TIM.
In 2016 he received the Golden Film award for Best Storyboard Artist for They Call Me Jeeg Robot by Gabriele Mainetti, an award he won again in 2018 for Ugly and Bad by Cosimo Gomez. Projects he has worked on include I Leoni di Sicilia and Freaks Out.
A professor at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and the Roman School of Comics, he combines his professional activity with the teaching of visual representation techniques applied to cinematic narration.
In the keynote “Storyboarding: Storytelling Through Images”, Marco Valerio Gallo will explore the role of storyboarding in the construction of the story through images, sharing experiences, techniques, and creative processes that transform an idea or screenplay into a visual sequence, between composition, direction, and cinematic language.
