Gabriella Pescucci

Costume designer

Gabriella Pescucci is an Italian costume designer, winner of several awards, including an Academy Award, two Emmy Awards, nine Nastri d'argento Awards, two BAFTA Awards and three David di Donatello Awards.

She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence, and began her career in Rome as assistant to the great Pierluigi Pizzi and Piero Tosi (in Pier Paolo Pasolini's Medea). In 1994 he won the Academy Award for Best Costume Design for Martin Scorsese's The Age of Innocence. He received 2 more nominations: in 1989 for Terry Gilliam's The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and in 2006 for Tim Burton's The Chocolate Factory.

In 2007 he designed costumes for the popular opera Juliet and Romeo. His creations are the Renaissance costumes for the television series The Borgias and for the series Penny Dreadful with Victorian-era costumes. In 2006 he designed the costumes for the opening ceremony of the 20th Winter Olympic Games Turin 2006.
