Carlo Poggioli studied and graduated from the Institute of Art and the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, where he took a course in Scenography and Costume.

After completing his studies in Naples, he moved to Rome and began his professional training at the tailoring Tirelli starting working as an assistant for some of the most important Italian costume designers such as: Gabriella Pescucci, Piero Tosi, Maurizio Millenotti in films such as: "Il nome della rosa" (J.J. Annaud), "Le avventure del Barone di Munchausen" (T. Gilliam), "La voce della luna" (F. Fellini), "L'età dell'innocenza" (M. Scorsese - Oscar 1993 per i migliori costumi ), "Storia di una capinera" (F. Zeffirelli) and many others. 2016 is the year of the second collaboration with Paolo Sorrentino for the TV series "The Young Pope" with Jude Law, Diane Keaton and Silvio Orlando, produced by HBO and Sky Italia. Carlo for this series signs the costumes together with costume designer Luca Canfora (Special Prize Silver Ribbons - Nomination for the best costumes of the Costume Designer Guild).
